One of the most valuable lessons I have learned from my personal journey (my journey back to Self) is the paramount importance of getting to know the “Twin Within”- our complementary energy that is often referred to as the Twin Flame.
The Twin Flame is the reason we may become attracted to, and the reason we subconsciously attract, certain people into our lives. The Twin Flame is our memory of that eternal image.
If we would place our efforts into meditation, visualization, drawing, writing, painting, song writing, poetry, etc., we would probably be able to create a pretty clear picture of our Twin Flame /”Twin Within”. However, one will not likely search for the perfect love inside of himself, even if “within” is exactly where he should start.

Our outer relationships are almost always indicative of the inner. Consequently, what does an “outer” romantic relationship or profound attraction represent? The relationship between our inner masculine and inner feminine energies. Knowing which one of these energies your “outer counterpart” represents in you is one step closer to knowing your “Twin Within”. It could be the masculine or the feminine energy. Gender doesn’t matter. What’s important is your relationship to that inner energy. For instance, if a woman identifies more with her inner feminine, how does she relate to the masculine? Does she embrace it, reject it, have conflict with it? As especially concerns spiritually connected relationships, it is never the “outer” that rules. Everything begins within, and the essence of your true Twin Flame (that eternal image) can always be found within your psyche. If an outer relationship isn’t making sense (i.e., you might ask yourself “Why am I even attracted to this person?”) return to the “inner” — the “Twin Within” and your inner wisdom. You will find your answers there.

QUESTION: I wish to know: can the Twin Flame exist outside of you (in another specific person) if it is just a hidden side of you?
ANSWER: The inner attracts the outer.
The Twin Flame always begins within. It’s not someone you have to look for on the outside. Find it first on the inside — that eternal image, that hidden side or part of you — and then you will be able to recognize that same energy in another person too.

Again, it’s about awareness and understanding. When we are not aware of our “hidden part”, we do not always understand why we become drawn to certain individuals, especially when they are not appropriate or available to share in healthy, loving relationship with us. Example, if you are experiencing the Twin Flame through pain and pull due to your outer counterpart not reciprocating your love in the same way, it could be that instead of having attracted your Twin Flame, you have unconsciously projected it onto someone who does not requite your love; but yet still strongly reminds you of your hidden part.
Most of the time, it is only when we recognize and unite with that hidden part of our Self that we consciously know who is right for us, and we come to understand the definition of the type of relationship we want in our life.
When a person finds that hidden part, they find the missing piece to their puzzle and begin to magnetize somebody they can truly fall in love with – the person who will fall madly in love with them. And yes, there is absolutely such a person out there for everyone!
Never forget, True Love is not about depleting your self-esteem… “It’s always about love, love of self first, which dictates that we deserve to be with someone who respects, honors and appreciates us and is fully capable of committing to and loving another completely. Otherwise, leave such people to work on balancing their own masculine/feminine sides; each individual already has enough work with just trying to get him/herself together. When one fixes him/herself others will either: (1) react differently; (2) reflect it back, or (3) will not be able to handle the higher energy vibration, thereby dissolving that relationship to make room to attract the right relationship.” – Ruthie Grant Ph.D.
The Twin Flame is about being very in tune to you – your sacred inner place and your divine inner masculine and feminine energies. It really is about discovering your core — your authentic self. That’s what makes it different from the Soul Mate relationship and why many meet their Twin Flames in spirit (i.e., dreams, meditation, visualization, etc…) and why some believe that a physical instance of the Twin Flame is not always necessary or important.
The one with whom we are contracted to evolve and grow within the context of our Self (our self guide) is, for all intent and purposes, representative of the true Twin Flame. This may, in some cases, be an outer counterpart or it could be our divine counterpart in spirit (our spirit guide to self) whose image we carry within and visualize through meditation, journaling, dreamwork, imagery techniques, and imaginary dialogue.

Whether you meet your beloved on the inner or the outer plane, what we refer to as “the Twin Flame reunion” will always take place within. Once again, it is an inner happening. You begin to remember your wholeness. Slowly you come to a certain state of self acceptance. Painful experiences from the past are met with peace. Old wounds heal. The soul begins to feel free. And you feel your Twin Flame more and more as you arrive to an inner place of love and joy.
The Twin Flame frequency offers you what you need to allow yourself to fully be “you” so that you can empathize with others and love more deeply. The journey is a path. The destination is Oneness.
Sometimes, people will mistake a powerful physical attraction (possibly a projection of the “Twin Within”) for true love or they will become more in love with the idea of love, the image of it, or the image they’ve formed of the person who is the object of their attention. When you don’t know yourself well, and you meet someone, or even just see someone, who very strongly makes you feel something about yourself within yourself, you are prone to mistake this feeling for Twin Flame love. However, it is not. This feeling will likely run its course because it might not be requited equally or the alchemical process will begin again with someone else after the projection wears off. To know your true Twin Flame, you must come to know the “Twin Within” — you must come to know your Self.
Twin Flame connections require an open heart. And an open heart also means an open mind which further means no expectation or attachment to any one particular outcome. In other words, the Twin Flame stages you read about online might not serve you unless you take them in the FIGURATIVE way they were originally intended via the mythological story of Psyche and Eros, who were characters created to symbolize the relationship between the Soul and Love. Recognition; Testing; Crisis; Runner Dynamic; Surrender; Radiance; (and) Harmonizing, stages of the Twin Flame journey, are all INNER happenings.
Every spiritual journey to some extent requires a discernment of information. When I began to consciously embark on my journey, I found writings on Twin Flames that raised “red flags” by indicating exclusivity – that divine counterpartal love is only available to a select few. Of course, as many of us know, this isn’t true. Each of us has an equal opportunity to know our Twin Flame. For instance, when we close our eyes and feel our preciousness, our sensual energy, and our spirit — the spirit of who we really are — we also cannot help but feel the precious and unmistakable energy that is our Twin Flame. This is just one example as to why it is important to always use your intuition and your judgment while listening to or reading advice and information…

There are many different beliefs and teachings concerning Twin Flames. Some people find their Twin Flame (energy) in spirit and/or relate it to the inner lover (Twin Within) solely. Others relate it to physical partners too. Past lives are prominent for some, while for many individuals, myself included, it becomes all about the Now. What is important to note is that nothing is written in stone. You could very likely begin your journey thinking one thing, and then after a few twists and turns, realize something else or something more. That’s the beauty, mysticism, and spiritualism of the Twin Flame journey. It is always yours to discover (through your own heart and mind). And it is always yours to own.
